In Our Schools
Currently, provides full time support to three schools and independent materials support to two others. Each of the current schools has two to three mentors who tailor the SFSI program to the needs of the school and teachers. Resources are maintained in the SFSI Resource Facility in a portable building at Gonzales Elementary, one of the SFSI schools.
Materials:
Center for Hands on Learning (CHOL) kits
These kits, manufactured in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, were recently developed to meet New Mexico Standards and Benchmarks. Many schools purchased these materials during the 2005-2006 science materials ‘adoption.’
Science and Technology for Children (STC) kits
These materials were developed by the National Science Resources Center (NSRC) and are available to teachers through the SFSI Science Resource Center
Full Option Science Systems (FOSS) kits
These kits are available to teachers through Delta Education
Santa Fe Science Initiative support is available in Northern New Mexico for:
- Direct teacher mentoring and partnerships
- Professional development: Science Inquiry and Curriculum mapping
